## Overview

EcoMind is a Chrome extension that tracks your AI API usage and calculates the environmental impact (energy, water, CO₂). We are committed to protecting your privacy.

## Data Collection

### Local Data Only
EcoMind operates in **100% local-only mode**:
- All usage data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API
- No data is ever sent to external servers
- No backend integration, no telemetry, no analytics
- Data includes: API call counts, provider names, model names, timestamps, and calculated environmental metrics
- You can clear this data at any time from the extension popup

**We do NOT collect:**
- Actual API request/response content
- Personal conversations or prompts
- API keys or credentials
- Browsing history beyond AI provider domains
- Any personally identifiable information

## Data Storage

- All data is stored in Chrome local storage (persists only on this device, does not sync across devices)
- No external servers, no cloud storage, no data transmission

## Monitored Domains

EcoMind monitors requests to the following AI provider domains only:
- **OpenAI**: api.openai.com, chatgpt.com, *.chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, *.chat.openai.com
- **Anthropic**: api.anthropic.com, claude.ai, *.claude.ai
- **Google AI**: generativelanguage.googleapis.com, ai.google.dev
- **xAI**: api.x.ai, grok.com, *.grok.com, x.ai, *.x.ai
- **Perplexity**: api.perplexity.ai, perplexity.ai, *.perplexity.ai
- **HuggingFace**: api-inference.huggingface.co, huggingface.co
- **Replicate**: api.replicate.com
- **Together.ai**: api.together.xyz
- **Cohere**: api.cohere.ai
- **Mistral**: api.mistral.ai
- **OpenRouter**: openrouter.ai
- **Groq**: api.groq.com

The extension only observes request metadata (URLs, timing) to these specific domains - no content is read or stored. No other websites are monitored or accessed.

## Data Retention

- Local data persists on your device until you manually clear it using the extension popup
- No data is retained on external servers (because none is sent)

## Your Rights

You have full control over your data:
- View all tracked data in the extension popup
- Clear today's data using the "Clear Today" button
- Review all monitored AI providers in the Settings page
- Uninstall the extension to remove all local data
- All tracking happens locally - no account or sign-up required

## Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy as needed. Check the "Last Updated" date above.
